Larry Stephen Jones was born in 1960 in Raleigh, North Carolina where he also grew up. He and his family were active members of Fellowship Baptist Church in Raleigh. It was there he first heard and responded to the gospel - trusting Jesus Christ for eternal life.

After graduating from Garner Senior High School in 1978 he attended Wake Technical Community College where he graduated in the Mechanical Drafting program in 1980.

Larry worked as a structural draftsman and CAD technician from 1980 to 1999. During this time he Bonnie Penny, who was from Garner, NC in 1984. After discerning a call to gospel ministry, Larry and Bonnie moved to Asheville, North Carolina in 1990 where Larry began attending Trinity Baptist Bible College.

During his last year of studies at Trinity Larry was introduced to Reformed Theology, and decided to pursue licensing and ordination in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Graduating from Trinity with a Bachelor of Theology, he enrolled in Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and earned a Master of Divinity degree.

Larry was licensed by the Western Carolina Presbytery in March 1996 and began preaching at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Waynesville, NC in May of 1997. Initially Larry served at Covenant as Stated Pulpit Supply, while still working full-time as a draftsman and attending Greenville Seminary part-time. He served in this manner until May of 1999 when he answered the call to be ordained and installed as the full-time pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he continues to minister today.

Between 1988 and 1997 Larry and Bonnie Jones were blessed with three children: Carla, Hannah, and Blake. They now have three grandchildren. Larry believes the greatest gift you give your children - or anyone - is the truth of God's sovereignty - his absolute control over all of creation and circumstances of life. He is working out everything - without exception - according to his purpose and plan - all for his glory and the good of His people.
